Irrecha (thanksgiving) will be celebrated next Sunday in Bishoftu town, Oromia Regional State.
According to Culture and Tourism Bureau of the town, preparations have been finalized to welcome attendees and vistors as well as to observe the festival peacefully and colorfully.
An exhibition showing the culture of the Oromo people was opened today and the Great Irrecha run will be held on Saturday. A trade fair and bazaar which will last until October will be staged, the bureau said.
Irrecha celebration attracted four million people last year and this year, it is expected to attract up to five million participants and visitors.
The ongoing efforts to get Irrecha registered by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are expected to get response by December, 2016.
