President Sahle-Work Zewde today visited LeDeG Midwifery College, a social enterprise set up as private limited company in Addis Ababa.
The College is devoted to training girls from the rural areas to become midwives. The trained midwives will return and serve their respective communities.
The main target of the Collage is to increase the number of midwives in Ethiopia and to contribute to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality.
Commending the College’s commitment to produce trained midwives, President Sahle-Work pledged government’s support.
The College is currently training 40 midwives.
