The proclamation that was approved by the House of Peoples Representatives (HoPR) months back to officially ban the advertisement of alcohol drinks through media took effect as of today.
The proclamation got published on Negarit newspaper as Food and Drug Administration Proclamation NO. 1112., which will ban any alcohol ads beginning today.
Minister of Health, Dr. Amir Aman said that attempts to advertise alcohol drinks through radio or television will be punished.
He also said that billboards of alcohol ads will be uprooted.
All the broadcast media are advised not broadcast any ads of alcohol, the Minister said.
