The Ethiopian Government has officially opened overseas employment to Qatar on July 5, 2019.
According to the Ethiopian Embassy in Doha, the first batch has arrived in Doha today after meeting the necessary requirements.
Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Ethiopian Ambassador to Qatar, Samia Zekaria, and other Embassy staff members.
A total of 30 employment agencies were licensed to facilitate deployment of workers from Ethiopia to Qatar.
Ethiopia has also concluded the signing of bilateral labor agreements with UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Kuwait early this year.
The Country banned its citizens from employment as domestic workers in the Middle East almost six years ago
The decision was aimed at protecting them from abusive employers. (FBC)
