Ethiopia plans to eliminate circumcision, early marriage by 2025

Ethiopian President Sahlework Zewudie urges stakeholders to play their role to eliminate circumcision and early marriage of females by the year 2025.

The road map, which was under preparation over the past five years, and will be implemented in the coming five years to combat circumcision and early marriage, is disclosed today.

President Sahlework, who showed up in ceremony of disclosing the roadmap said that as the circumcision and early marriage pose female for lifelong problem, the roadmap vindicated Ethiopia’s commitment to solve the problem.

She also urged stakeholders and the public to contribute their role so that the roadmap will be materialized.

Minister of the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth, Yalem Tsegaye on her part said that there will be wide mobilization to realize the roadmap that will tackle females from these problems, which have been practiced across the country.

It was indicated that 3 billion birr is required to implement the plan.
