Addis Ababa, November 24, 2021 (Walta) – The Water and Energy Minister Habtamu Itefa received and held talks with the Country Director of the World Bank in Ethiopia Ousmane Dione at his office.
The Minister and the Director-General agreed to work together on the development of renewable energy, drinking water supply, and sanitation.
The minister who acknowledged the World Bank’s support to increase access to safe drinking water in rural and urban areas said that the government is committed to enhancing water, sanitation, sanitation, and irrigation development projects in Ethiopia.
He said the World Bank has provided financial support for renewable energy development and water supply works in Ethiopia, noting that the government’s efforts to make the country an East African power pool are exemplary. “We want to work together to make the energy supply plan real,” he said.
Ousmane Dione, for his part, said the World Bank is committed to investing in power generation, transmission, and distribution areas in the county and the region at large.
The Minister and Director General further discussed drought and floods prevention, groundwater study, and urban drainage system development in Ethiopia, according to the Ministry.
