Addis Ababa, May 13, 2024 (Addis Walta) Ethiopians rallied together to raise over 154 million Birr within a mere 12-hour span for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s initiated “Clean Ethiopia” project.
A Clean Ethiopia digital telethon launched aiming to generate a total of 50 million Birr between sun rise and sunset which managed to generate three fold of the target-154 million Birr.
Prime Minister Abiy up on the success expressed his appreciation to all involved in the cause. On his social media, he wrote “Athletes, sportsmen and fans who have made Ethiopia proud, cab drivers, intellectuals, investors who are conscientious and clean, thank you for your contribution by attending the telethon.”
The reach of the telethon extended far beyond Ethiopia’s borders, with over 40,000 citizens from around the globe joining in the collective effort to fund the construction of public toilets.
