PM Abiy Ahmed, First Lady lay Wreath at Ethiopian Kagnew Battalion Memorial

Addis Ababa, June 2, 2024 (Addis Walta) Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady, Zinash Tayachew, laid wreath at Ethiopian Kagnew Battalion Memorial Monument in Chuncheon, in South Korea.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady, Zinash Tayachew, were warmly welcomed at the Chuncheon City where Ethiopian veterans of the Korean War memorial Monument built.

The memorial honors the Ethiopian Kagnew Battalion, which fought alongside South Korean and United Nations forces during the Korean War in the 1960s.

“The hall serves as a tribute to the sacrifices and contributions made by Ethiopian soldiers and aims to strengthen the historical ties between Ethiopia and South Korea,” wrote the office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Abiy and a ministerial delegate traveled to South Korea for South Korea-Africa Summit which expected to take place between June 4 and 5, 2024.
