Support for Ukraine Dominates Washington Hosted NATO Submit


Addis Ababa, July 10, 2024 (Addis Walta) At Washington hosted Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) 75th anniversary supporting Ukraine was the key agenda.

The summit, which runs from July 9-11, focus on reassuring Ukraine of the alliance’s unwavering support. President Joe Biden in his highest-profile policy speech underscored that NATO is stronger than it’s ever been in its history.


“Ukraine can and will stop Putin, especially with our full, collective support. And they have our full support,” Biden added.

Joe Biden host outgoing NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and the leaders of other NATO countries, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and, for the first time, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Leaders from Asia Pacific partners including Japanese, South Korean, Australian and New Zealand are also in attendance.

China’s increasing presence in South China Sea and NATO’s continued support to the Asia Pacific Partners, and defense spending are other key agendas at the Summit.

NATO was established during the Cold War in 1949 to counter the growing challenges posed by the Soviet Union.
