Ethiopia starts a 3.3 billion birr worth dam construction

The construction of 3.3 billion birr worth irrigation dam project is started today in West Showa zone of Ethiopia’s Oromia region.

The project, which is called Guder Sato Irrigation Dam Project is planned to benefit more than 5 thousand household farmers, who previously used to produce meager amount.

The Federal Construction Works Corporation is awarded to construct the dam, while the Oromia Water Works Corporation assigned to develop land that will be irrigate once the dam get finalized.

The dam, which has 4.6 meters height and 273 meter length, will accumulate 57 million meter cubic water to irrigate 5 thousand hectares of land.

The farmers, who live nearby the area, also expressed their happiness over inception of the dam as they will be benefited from the dam.

They said that they will produce more than they used to be in that more jobs will be created for youths of the area.
