Addis Ababa, 9 August 2014 (WIC) – A delegation from the U.N. Security Council is heading to East Africa next week to get firsthand knowledge of the current state of affairs there.
According to Ambassador Seyoum Mesfin, IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan, the visit is particularly aimed to probe the South Sudan Peace Process.
IGAD leaders will also be convening in Addis Ababa simultaneously mainly to assess the Peace Process.
At the end of the consultations, the regional bloc is expected to issue a resolution regarding the ongoing conflict in South Sudan and the ensuing humanitarian crisis.
Mean while, the fifth the fifth session of the IGAD-led Mediation Process for South Sudan is taking place in Addis Ababa. (ERTA)
