Ethiopia’s 1st toll road to be open for traffic

Addis Ababa, 13 September 2014 (WIC) ¬- The Addis Ababa- Adama highway, the first toll road in the country will be opened for traffic starting from Sunday, September 14, 2014, the Ethiopian Toll Roads Enterprise announced.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the six-lane road, which is the first of in its kind in the country, has consumed over 10.3 billion Birr, of which 57 percent is covered from Exim bank of China as loan.

The 84.6km long and 31 meters wide road would cut the travel time from the capital city, Addis Ababa to Adama from three hours to 45 minutes.
