Federal Police Commission Commissioner, General Assefa Abiyou, told FBC yesterday that on Monday and Tuesday, there were attempts to spread out violence in limited areas in the outskirts of Addis Ababa following the accident at Irrecha celebration.
Those who endeavor to create violence by receiving instruction from external forces and people who were ready to seize the opportunity to loot factories took part in the illegal activities. There were also people who took part in the activity unintentionally, he said.
However, the residents in partnership with security forces managed to put the situation under control, he said.
General Assefa dismissed as false the information being disseminated by various social media about Addis Ababa and its environs. He also called on Addis dwellers to continue their daily practices.
The security force in partnership with the residents will take proportionate measures for any illegal activity.
