PM Hailemariam leaves for Rwanda

Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn has left today for Kigali, Rwanda for a working visit.

The Premier is expected to meet with Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame and discuss on bilateral, continental and international issues.

Hailemariam is also expected to inaugurate the Ethiopian embassy expected to be opened in Kigali this week.

The opening of Ethiopian embassy in Rwanda is expected to consolidate bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Ethiopian embassy in Kigal would increase the number of embassies that the East African nation has in different countries to 54.

The two countries are also expected to conclude several agreements during the Ehio-Rwanda joint commission meeting to be held in Kigali for three days.

The relationship between Ethiopia and Rwanda goes back to 1960s, when Rwanda got its independence and the latter opened its embassy in Addis Ababa in September 1978. (ENA)
