The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia announced that only 10 parties out of the 62 political parties active in the country are abiding by law.
The Board made this remark while presenting its nine month report to House of People Representative.
Board Chair Merga Bekana said that there are 22 political parties active nationwide, while 40 parties active within regions.
He said that Board is following these parties to know whether they are practicing according to the election law or not.
Accordingly, the Board found 10 political parties, which are abiding by the revised political parties registration proclamation no. 573/2000, he said.
The remaining 17 national and 35 regional political parties partially fulfill legal criteria.
