Ethiopia offers passport for “Stateless Citizens” living abroad

The Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in statement today that it has offered passport for 40 thousand citizens, who treated as “stateless” in foreign land.

According to the Ministry, Ethiopians who crossed brorder into Sudan and South Africa, and crossed sea in Middle East are among the beneficiaries.

The Ministry in coordination with Immigration and Nationality Affairs Main Department, and Consular offices of Ethiopian based in different country has got the work done, the statement added.

The statement also said that the Ministry has repatriated one thousand Ethiopians on Dec.1 and 5, who were improned in Saudi Arabia, after being accused of serveral offenses. The Number is expected to reach to 2250 by the fall of this week.

The Ministry also lobbyed on behalf of the Ethiopain works, who were denieid of their sallay to get paid with 1.6 million birr paied for them in Jidha alone.

The Statement also indicatetd that Ethiopains who aquired citizenship of  foreign countries for sake getting asylum and residence liscence are now allowed to have Ethiopian Identifacation Card after examination. Previously, they were used to be denied by Ethiopian embassies, even when they ask for.

Ethiopain, which recently decided to implement visa on Arrival as part of AU reform, now saw an increase in the number of tourist flow.

The Ministy also garntetd a permanent residence liscence for 406 Greece, Armenians and Italians, 688 Bet-Israeli or Ethiopian Jews and 99 Rasterferian, whom the government said are citizines of countries Ethiopian has a long historical relation with.
