Command Post commences guarding Oromia-Benishangul border

A Command Post set up to resolve the security problem along the Oromia-Benishangul Gumuz regional states’ border has begun operation.

The Command Post is composed of representatives from the federal and the two regional states, the defense force and the federal police, Seifedin Harun, a member of the Command Post, told ENA.

The Command Post is tasked to ensure the wellbeing of the residents by controlling militants operating in the area, he said.

The Command Post, which has made its base in Asossa town, the capital of Benishangul Gumuz regional state, will work in collaboration with Sudanese security forces, he said.

More than 100 people were killed and tens of thousands were displaced due to the conflicts that happened along the two regional states’ border during the past three months.
