ODP, OLF Sign reconciliation deal

The Oromia regional state and the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) have officially signed a reconciliation pact today.

Senior leaders of Oromia and OLF, Abba Gadaas (Oromo traditional leaders), elders, scholars, youth, representatives of political parties attended the deal signed in Ambo University, Oromia regional state.

Dr Milkesa Mideksa, representing Oromia regional state and Dawud Ibsa, Chairperson of OLF, on the occasion pledged in front of the participants to avoid bloodshed and move forward, leaving the past behind.

The two sides agreed to ceasefire as of today. According to the agreement,  OLF will encamp its soldiers soon.

The two sides held their first-round reconciliation forum last Tuesday in Addis Ababa.

At the end of the forum, a committee of 71 people was formed to facilitate condition for the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of armed members of the OLF.
