Defense force to unveil new military uniforms

Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) will make changes in the military fatigues and design of the uniforms of armed forces, Major General Abdurahman Ismael, CEO of the Defenses Forces Foundation disclosed.

Major General Abdurahman said that the change in military fatigues will help to effectively control those who use military uniforms to commit crimes.

The General told ENA that military uniforms to be used by the armed forces will be prepared with standard quality, color and design.

The Foundation, according to Major General Abdurahman, is authorized to produce and purchase military outfits and fatigues to be used by the armed forces pursuant to Council of Ministers Regulation No 179/2010.

The Foundation has conducted benchmarking activities in different countries to carefully select quality and well designed military uniforms that could fit into the needs of the armed forces of the country.

Brigadier General Teshome Gemechu, Head of the Armed Forces Research Center on his part said, although military uniforms are to be worn only by the members of the armed forces, due to laxity in controlling the condition, individuals who are not members of the armed forces are seen attiring in uniforms that are to be worn only by the member of the armed forces.

Inappropriate discarding ways of older uniforms have resulted in crimes committed by individuals using military attires which tended to discredit and dishonor the stature of the armed forces of the country, Brigadier General Teshome Gemechu added.

The General requested the public to cooperate with the armed forces in their attempt to take offenders who use military uniforms to the courts of law.
