PM visits displaced people in Gedeo

Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed is currently holding discussion with displaced community members in Gedeb woreda in Gedeo zone, Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s regional state.

The Prime Minister travelled to the area this morning to assess the state of the displaced people who are in temporary shelters, according to office of the Prime Minister.

Members of the displaced expressed their grievances to Prime Minister Dr Abiy, who is at the moment holding lengthy discussions with representatives.

The government, through the coordination of the National Disaster Risk Management Commission, upon the request of zonal and regional administrators earlier this week, has been transporting humanitarian supplies to the area as of March 11th.

In a statement issued yesterday, the government also said it will continue its efforts to ensure sustainable reinstatement of the displaced people.
