Affiliate parties say reflect national issues on EPRDF council meeting

Ethiopian parties affiliated to the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) said that their participation in the council meeting of EPRDF help them reflect on regional and national issues.

In a meeting the front held since Monday, executives of affiliate parties participated for the first time since the front took power 28 years ago.

The Harari league, Benshangul Gumuz Democratic Party, Somali Democratic Party, Gambella Peoples Democratic Movement and Afar National Democratic Party are the parties, which for years denied participation to front meeting, is now allowed to take part, a measure the party took as political reform.

Leaders of these parties told a press conference after the meeting got concluded that their participation enabled them to reflect their take on the region and national issues.

They also said that the political reform the country undergone since last year has a windfall for them as they also take reform from national to their respective regions.

According to them, the political reform being taken is on the right track with diplomatic success used to boost the economy.

They also pledged to forward the reform by working hard in ensuring rule of law.

The issue of extreme nationalism is exhaustively discussed as a problem, and the parties said they are working to create unified Ethiopia.

 The EPRDF has recently announced a plan to dissolve as a front to create one national party.
