About 99,000 West Guji, Gedio residents return home

More than 99 thousand of the residents of west Guji and Gedio zones in the Southern region of Ethiopia, who were displaced during the recent conflict that erupted in the area, are returned to their homes, according to the Woreda Disaster Prevention and Management Office.

Materials support is being transported to the area to be supplied to them, according to Alemu Jegona, team of the Office. Those who are suspected of inciting the violence are being controlled, he noted.

Some of them are already controlled by the taskforce established for the purpose, he said.

It is also indicated that the zonal administration has taken measures up on 100 members of the low level leadership.

Prime Minister Abiy has visited the returnees last week and the UN has started its support in building houses to them.
