PM Abiy Ahmed leaves for Sudan amid political crisis

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia left to Sudan this morning for bilateral talks with Lt.Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who assumed power as a leader of the Sudanese Transitional Military Council.

The country long-serving president Omar Al-bashir was ousted in April by military generals after a serious of public demonstration that has demanded political change in Sudan.

The political crisis was not ended at the ousting of president Al-bashir but it has developed into a new level with the military in one hand, and the coalition of oppositions in other hand backed by sit-in protests posed to a confrontation on how the poltical change should look like and how soon will civilan goverment will be instituted.

The confrontation led to a deadly violence, which according to officials resultetd in the death of 60 civilians mounted pressure from oppositions and international communities on the military to immediately hand over power to civil body.

The African Union(AU) has already sanctioned Sudan from involving any activities of the union after the country failed to comply with the warning of instituting civilian government.
