Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has arrived today in Axum and is welcomed by Tigray Regional State’s President Debretsion Gebremikael.
The premier visited the obelisk of Axum and is briefed on its current status in the meantime.
The Prime Minister also indicated that he has discussed on options to maintain the obelisk with the Italian government and he vowed to make continued effort to make the task a reality.
He is also expected to meet students at the Axum University and dwellers of the city.
