Sudan Premier to pay state visit to Ethiopia

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Adam Hamdok will arrive in Addis Thursday for a two-day state visit, Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan to Ethiopia Ambassador Anas E. Elgailani told The Ethiopian Herald.

The planned visit is following the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, he said.
Prime Minister Hamdok and the delegations are scheduled to hold bilateral talks with the Ethiopian counterparts on various topics including economic cooperation and border security.

“The two sisterly countries have so far signed many agreements covering wide-area of cooperation. The Prime Minister’s visit is; therefore, to reactivate agreements already reached,” the Ambassador said.

As the visit is to be held on the heels of the last week’s Ethio-Sudan Business Forum held in Addis, the economic cooperation between the two sides will gain further momentum, he said, adding that: “We want Ethiopian banks to open branches in Khartoum and vice versa.”

The banks play a fundamental role in facilitating business in the respective countries, according to him.
