Four media houses, including Walta Media and Communication Corporation (WMC), have agreed for the use of an integrated satellite Television transmission with the Institute of National Security Agency (INSA).
WMC, Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), Ethiopian Broadcasting System (EBS), and the Ministry of Education signed the agreement with INSA.
The agreement is expected to enable the media houses transmit with reliable security with fair cost.
Director of the INSA, Teklebirhan Wolde-aregay, noted during the signing of the agreement that the venture can transcend Ethiopia’s effort to have its own satellite one step ahead.
He underlined that the agreement can create the media get better quality service with fair cost and reliable security as compared to other foreign companies.
He indicated that more media houses are expected to join the agreement and benefit from the service.
The provision of integrated satellite TV service is expected to stave off the challenge that the media houses have been facing to get a reliable satellite transmitter from abroad.
