Archeologists discover 6.7 to 9 mln year old hippo fossils

Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural heritage (ARCCH) says archeologists team discovers fossils of hippopotamus that thought to have been 6.7 mln to 9 mln years old .      

Public and International relations deputy head with the authority, Fanta Beyene told WMC that archeologists find out fossils of hippopotamus dated 6.7 to 9 mln years ago  at archeological site of Chorora , located  in the western past of Hararage.  

Archeologists team has explained that the new fossil discovered are components of tooth and some body parts of hippopotamus.   

The archeologists team noted that the new fossils of hippo  is expected  to help  scientists to understand  the past species  of  mammal  extincted     million years  ago.      

The newly discovered fossil,  Chororateriomrobi,   is named after  Cherora, a place where the fossil is discovered and Robi  is taken from  name of hippo in Oromiffa language .
