China donates 206 million birr worth cereals

The government of China said that it has donated 7,408 metric tons of wheat and 579 metric tons of white rice, which together worth 206 million birr for humanitarian assistance.

 The support was made according to the agreement the governments of the two countries reached.

Ethiopian National Disaster Risk Management Commissioner, Mitiku Kassa said the donation will be disbursed to people, who were internally displaced following conflicts in the country, and drought hit areas. He thanked the Chinese government for the support it extended.

 Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Tan Jian on his part said that developing countries including Ethiopia have to modernize their agriculture sectors to ensure food security.

Other nations, which had previously promised to sustainably grant 100 million Chinese Yuan annually, have took part the donation program today and signed an agreement to materialize their promise.
