Libya’s President launches initiative to resolve the crisis

The Embassy of the State of Libya, via a statement it sent to Walta today, indicated that the country has launched an initiative to resolve the current crisis in the country named after the President, Fiez Siraj.

The initiative is to convene a Libyan Forum that will represent all the national forces and components of the Libyan people from all regions with both political and social influence.

The Forum aims at coming up on an agreement for the roadmap that shall enable to conduct presidential and parliamentary elections before the end of 2019.

The laws related to the constitutional and electoral process are also expected to be approved by the forum.

It will also call up on the Security Council and the international community to support the agreement.

Committees comprising the current executive and security bodies in all regions are also expected to be established under the supervision of the United Nations.

The Forum is also to play the role of leading to the formation of a High Commission for National Reconciliation which will monitor and supervise the national reconciliation process.
