Ethiopia, Turkey consults to cement economic ties

The Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ethiopia held a virtual discussion with the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), the members of the Turkey-Ethiopia business council, and investors from various sectors aiming to scale up economic engagements between the two countries.

At the occasion, Melaku Alebel, Minister of Trade and Industry of Ethiopia, delivered a speech in which he explained the existing trade and economic relations between Turkey and Ethiopia and underscored the interest of the Ethiopian government to further strengthen economic ties with Turkey.

The minister also explained the Ethiopian Government’s commitment towards attracting Foreign Direct Investment, providing wide-ranging incentive packages for investments in priority areas, expanding Industrial parks, and pushing the homegrown economic reform to register better results.

He further explained the enormous opportunities created by the newly revised investment proclamation for foreign investors and called upon Turkish businesspeople to make Ethiopia their first choice for overseas investment.

On the other hand, Wondimu Gezahegn, the Consul General of Ethiopia in Istanbul, has also made a remark urging Turkish Investors to seize existing investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
