Addis Ababa, October 7, 2023 (Addis Walta) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, conferred with US Senator, Mike Rounds and his delegation today at his office on national and regional issues of common interest.
Demeke called on the United States to delist Ethiopia from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) ban, indicating its economic importance to the country and strengthening trade ties between the two nations.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, the discussion also addressed the continued humanitarian assistance that the United States provides to Ethiopia. Demeke pointed out that given the diverse array of challenges and crises faced by Ethiopia, the provision of humanitarian aid of paramount importance.
The discussion signifies the mutual interest in enhancing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
