Ethiopian Embassy in India Hosts Ethiopian Tourism Promotion Forum

Addis Ababa, June 9, 2022(Walta) – The Ethiopian Embassy in India, in collaboration with the Indian Chamber of International Business (ICIB), organized a Tourism Forum.

The forum was virtually attended by the State Minister of the Ethiopian Ministry of Tourism, Seleshi Girma, as well as the Ethiopian Airlines office in Delhi and a number of Indian travel & tourism organizations, tour operators, and travel agents, media, representatives, and other invited guests.

On the occasion, Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta (PhD.) addressed the gathering highlighting the tourist attractions in Ethiopia. She said, “Ethiopia has more UNESCO Heritage Sites than any other country in Africa but receives fewer tourists, despite being abundantly rich in culture, natural beauty, dramatic landscape, wildlife, and bio-diversity; Ethiopia has not been able to realize its full tourism potential.”

Ambassador Tizita also explained the Ethiopian Government’s remarkable socio-economic and investment reforms as well as the special investment incentive packages, including the five-year zero-profit tax and custom duty exemptions on the import of construction and capital goods for new investments in the hospitality sector.

She also expressed the benefits of events like this, opening up opportunities for boosting the tourist flow and attracting more outbound Indian tourists to Ethiopia.

Sisay Getachew from the Ministry of Tourism made detailed PowerPoint presentations about Ethiopia’s tourism potential followed by a presentation by an Ethiopian Airlines representative in Delhi about the elevated services of the Airlines for tourists traveling to Ethiopia.

Following the presentations, a question and answer session followed, where Seleshi Girma, State Minister of the Ethiopian Ministry of Tourism responded to.

All the invited guests and participants witnessed the highly celebrated Ethiopian coffee ceremony and the unique Ethiopian coffee which has a distinctive aroma and taste. The guests expressed their delight in tasting Arabica coffee from the land of its origin.
