We are seeking to Attract more Japanese Investors to Invest in Industrial Parks – Amb. Shibata Hironori

Addis Ababa, June 12, 2024(Addis Walta) Japan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Shibata Hironori, expressed that strong efforts are underway to attract more Japanese investors to industrial parks and Free Trade Zones across various sectors in Ethiopia. This was disclosed during a meeting with Aklilu Tadesse, CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC).

Aklilu Tadesse emphasized to the ambassador that the level of Japanese investment in industrial parks falls short of expectations given the longstanding relationship between Ethiopia and Japan. He stressed the necessity of robust cooperation to increase investment inflows and confirmed that IPDC is fully prepared for this endeavor.

The discussions also explored opportunities for international and domestic companies operating in industrial parks to tap into Japan’s substantial market in addition to their current markets.

Notably, a groundbreaking ceremony was recently held at Bole Lemi Industrial Park for the construction of a large Japanese company specializing in producing secure printing products that meet international security standards, including passports.
