World Bank Executives to Visit Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, December 6, 2023 (Addis Walta) Managing Director of Operations (MDO) of the World Bank Anna Bjerde and World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, Victoria Kwakwa, will visit Ethiopia from December 7-8, 2023.

The executives’ visit aims to enhance the World Bank’s support for Ethiopia and strengthen the collaborative relationship between the Government of Ethiopia and the World Bank.
In their stay, the two officials are expected to engage in high-level meetings with government officials and development partners.

A visit to the Urban Productive Safety Net and Jobs Project (UPSNJP) site and engaging with beneficiaries to better understand the impact of the project is also part of their travel, according to the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia.

The visit to the project site highlights the World Bank’s commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable urban communities in Ethiopia as well as to demonstrates the its dedication to ensuring that development projects are effective and responsive to the needs of the people they aim to serve.
