AKH perseveres develop skills of Ethiopian employees’

Addis Ababa, August 08/2016(WIC)-The Awash–Kombolcha- Hara gebeya(AKH) Railway project is making efforts to boost knowledge and skills of Ethiopian employees’ in railway technology.

Project manager of AKH, Engineer Abdulkerim Mohammed, told WIC that the project is practicing activities to develop skills and knowledge of Ethiopians on railway line construction and technology.   

The project manager noted that more than 3,500 Ethiopians are employed in different careers. The project is working in collaboration with the Addis Ababa, Mekelle and Wello universities and has begun to provide practical trainings for students trained in different fields of engineering.    

Yapi Merkezi Construction and Industrial Inc is a Turkish based company and has a good profile in Railway technology usage, Engineer Abdul Kerim noted. The company has created opportunities for domestic professionals to share experiences in tunnel construction, railway truck line building and bridge construction, he reiterated.                

The Company’s Project Manager, Mr Abdullah Kilic, on his part said that the company  is exerting efforts  to  share its huge experience in railway technology  to Ethiopian  counter parts based on  the  agreement reached with  Ethiopian Railway  corporation( ERA).    

Ethiopians are engaged in the activities of daily labor to engineering tasks within the project, Mr Abdullah indicated. Ethiopian employees are able to grasp knowledge and skill through joint works with Turkish workers, the project manager underscored.   

The Awash-Kombolcha-Hara gebya railway project, which is to have a total  length of  392 kilometers and planned  to establish its  main station  in the town of  Kombolcha, is expected to have 26  trucks.
