Agency readies 7 bln birr loan for enterprises

Addis Ababa, August 12, 2016 (WIC) –The Federal Manufacturing Industry Development Agency (FMIDA) has put aside a 7 billion birr loan for over 17,000 enterprises which will engage in the manufacturing sector this Ethiopian budget year.

In addition to the loan, the enterprises will be provided with production places, Asfaw Abebe, Acting Director General of FMIDA told FBC yesterday.

The enterprises are expected to create jobs for over half a million citizens, he said. Women and university graduates are the main beneficiaries of the loan service.

According to Asfaw, his agency plans to create 62,000 small and about 10,000 medium manufacturing industries over the coming four years.
