City administration to create over 215,000 jobs

Addis Ababa, August 19, 2016 (WIC) – The Addis Ababa city administration is creating over 200,000 jobs annually on average to cope with the unemployment rate rising in connection with the city’s growing population.

And in this budget year also, the city administration is planning to create job opportunities for over 215,000 unemployed compatriots, said Desta Fitsum, Head of the City Small and Micro Enterprise Development Bureau.

In addition to the manufacturing workshops being readied to create new job opportunities, additional workshops will be built with an outlay of 280 million birr, he said

Moreover, loan service will be offered for the beneficiaries in each sub city, in addition to a skill upgrading training, he said.

The administration has already readied 11 large workshops which could help train more than 6,000 people at a time, he said.
