Addis maintains 84,000 KMs road

The Addis Ababa Road Authority has disclosed that it has maintained more than 84 thousand kilometers of road in different corners of the city during the last nine months.

 Director of the Authority, Eng. Habtamu Tegegn, said the authority is making utmost effort to finish maintenance on more reads and ease the traffic jam in the city.

He noted that this year the authority has undertaken maintenance on main and squares roads they were not maintained for many years now.

More than 5 squares are demolished and replaced by traffic lights as part of the maintenance scheme during the last nine months. This has contributed its share in the effort to ease traffic jams during rush hours, he said.

The authority is gearing up efforts to finish more maintenance schemes as part of its schedule to maintain 110 kilometers of road this year.

The authority has spent about 370 million birr for the maintenance tasks and 70 percent of its expertise have participated in the projects as part of its plan for capacity building.
