The Office of National Coordination for Public Participation for the Construction of Gran Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) said it has received a sum of three million birr in the form of support from the Ethiopia Athletics Federation.
According to the office, the Federation has been stood by the office since the beginning of the project five years ago.
Office Public Relation Director, Hailu Abreham said that the Federation organized member athletes to contribute to the construction of the Dam, with some of them offers materials that could be an award for the SMS campaign of the office beyond three million birr support it has made.
He said that Federation has organized athletics events for GERD, some of which took place in Addis Ababa Mesqel Square and at Juba, where the Dam is being erected few kilometers away from border of Sudan.
He added that the office is sure the support will continue in the future.
So far, the government has collected over 9bln birr from various financing sources for the Dam.
