Ethiopia earns over 2.5 bln USD revenue from tourism sector

Ethiopia has earned over 2.5 bln USD revenue from tourism sector during the last nine months of this budget year, ministry of culture and tourism disclosed.

Public and International Relations director with the ministry, Gezahegn Abate briefed journalists today that Ethiopia has earned 2, 569, 218, 912 USD from about 686, 223 foreign tourists visited the country.   

According to Gezahegn, the flow of tourists has increased in the third quarter compare to the first and second quarter of this budget year. The numbers of tourists has registered 5.6 percent growth during the third quarter, he stated.        

Gezahegn noted that the sustainable peace and stability of the country together with wonderful cultural, historical and natural tourist destinations have contributed for the rising number of foreign visitors.      

Ethiopia has hosted many international conferences during the last nine months of this budget year, he indicated.

Ethiopia   is a country   with many tangible and intangible heritages that are registered by UNESCO, the total revenue gain from the tourism sector increases from time to time.
