Blended fertilizer companies fail to bring desired result

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources announced that the blended fertilizer companies established to improve crop productivity failed to bring about the desired result.

According to Ministry’s Agriculture and Marketing director Seifu Assefa, these companies were established in Amhara, Tigray, Oromia and South regions in 2013/14 to produce blended fertilizers.

However, as the inputs for production are purchased from abroad with specification that failed to meet the company requirements has brought a crunch to companies.

Corrective measures are being taken to solve  problems, he said adding that “these companies will be operational next year in full-swing and tackle the farmers from unnecessary expense.”(ENA)
