Anchor Israeli Companies Keen to Invest in Ethiopia

 

Anchor Israeli companies who discussed with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn in Tel Aviv expressed readiness to invest in various sector in Ethiopia.

While presenting their business plans, representatives of the companies expressed their desire to replicate their experiences in Ethiopia, Ewenetu Blata, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister said.

Representatives of the 13 companies engaged in the development of water resources and energy, agriculture and production and distribution of related technologies said they are ready to exploit the stable macroeconomic situation that prevails in the country.

Some of the companies are already engaged in various investment undertakings in Ethiopia and expressed their intention to expand their investments.

The Premier had assured the representatives that Ethiopia is ready to work with foreign companies to create more jobs, facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure development.

Mr. Ramzi Gabay, Chairman of Israeli Institute of Foreign Trade that co-organized the meeting in collaboration with the Ethiopian Embassy said they are ready to closely work with Ethiopia.

Noting that the cooperation between the two countries was limited to agriculture, Gabay urged the need to widen areas of cooperation. More attention should be given to technological innovations.

While addressing the business meeting held earlier, Prime Minister Hailemariam mentioned Ethiopia's ample opportunities for those who wish to invest in the country.

The Premier said that the country's potential in agriculture and renewable energy sectors combined with its green economy strategy will provide ample opportunity for investors who wish to engage in those areas.

He also briefed the meeting about the provision of attractive investment incentives as well as the quota and duty free opportunities to U.S and EU markets.

The Premier affirmed his government's commitment to provide all the necessary support for companies who wish to invest in the country.
