Moroccan companies ambitious to tap potentials in Ethiopia

Moroccan companies that are in Ethiopia to assess business opportunity and atmosphere are desirous to tap the business potential that they consider to be “big and promising”.

 Representatives of 13 Moroccan companies engaged in agri-business are in Ethiopia for a two-day business forum.

 The delegation has started business-to-business discussion with their Ethiopian counterparts with a view to know the business and investment situation as well creating partnerships.

 Younes Choukrallah, a representative of a company engaged in agro-business told ENA that his company is desirous to develop and sell products in the Ethiopia in partnership with domestic business partners.  

 Choukrallah, who is impressed with the hospitality and kindness of the people in Ethiopia, said his company immediately accepted the invitation to take part in the business forum because of Ethiopia’s luring market. 

 “When we asked for the participation in Ethiopia, we accept directly because we are very interested in the Ethiopian market to develop and sell our product in this market,” Choukrallah said.

 Another participant of the delegation running Edible oil company, Hamza Debbarh said that Ethiopia is a luring country for business persons as it is one of the biggest and promising market in Africa.

 “We are mainly focus on eastern Africa and Ethiopia is one of our focuses because we see it as very big market, we see it as very promising for the future”, he explained.

 Debbarh added that the main objective to come to Ethiopia is to understand and meet face to face with business people to understand market opportunities and constraints.

 “We do not have business area concretely in Ethiopia but the objective to be here is to try to initiate some partnerships in very short term and of course we want to give ourselves all the means necessary to inter the market” he added.

 Through a representative, Moroccan Ambassador to Ethiopia Nezha Alaoui Mhamedi said the ties between Moroccan and Ethiopian private sector is the reflection of the growing momentum that characterizes the relationship between the two countries.

 He added that the visit of King of Morocco on November 2016 has opened a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

 Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association Advisor, Addisu Tekle also said the business-to-business relation between Ethiopian and Moroccan business companies is increasing significantly.

 He said 76 companies came to Ethiopia to assess opportunities and business environment at the third Ethio-Moroccan Business forum held in October 2016, which he said was doubled compared to the previous year.  (ENA)
