PM Confers with Leaders of Int’l Organizations, Multinational Firms

Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who is in Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum (WEF), has conferred with leaders of international organizations and heads of multinational firms at the sidelines of the Forum.

Chairperson of WEF Borge Brende and CEO of Australian-based Trafigura Group Jeremy Weir are among the leaders who conferred with the Premier.

Trafigura is a leading global commodity trading firm over the last 25 years focusing on energy and resources, mining and metallurgy that make trade work better.

During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Jeremy Weir, CEO of Trafigura Group said the firm's intention to implant its foot prints in Ethiopia’s economic progress.

Trafigura that operates in 35 countries with 62 operational offices throughout the world has plans to expand its services into Ethiopia. The group is said to provide petroleum products for Ethiopia.

Zadig Abreha, Minister of Media and Public Relations Unit at the office of the Prime Minister said prominent international firms are attracted to Ethiopia due to its potential and investment atmosphere.

Trafigura Group is one of the international firms who are eying Ethiopia's potential in energy and mining sectors, he said.

He added that several other investors who discussed with the Prime Minister have expressed their desire to engage in various fields of investments. (ENA)
