Ethiopia resolute to ensure durable peace in Sudan: PM Meles

Addis Ababa, December 17 (WIC) – Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Ethiopia would extend support for sound co-operation between the Sudan and South Sudan governments.

The premier received on Friday a special message from the Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Basher.

Receiving the message, PM Meles said Ethiopia will continue its support to find peaceful solution for Sudan and South Sudan governments’ dispute.

He said Ethiopia will play its role to boost the trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Presenting the message, the special envoy for Sudanese president General Mohammed Hussein said Ethiopia is providing support for the peaceful resolution of the two governments.

He said he held constructive discussion with PM Meles Zenawi on ways to further enhance the relation of Ethiopia and Sudan in the areas of peace, trade, investment as well as people to people relations.

He confirmed that Ethiopia’s engagement in addressing the issue of the two countries is bearing fruits and his country is grateful for Ethiopia’s unreserved role.

The border demarcation is well underway, he said and urged Ethiopia to maintain its efforts towards peaceful resolution of the Sudanese case. (ENA)
