African leaders arriving here for 19th AU Summit

Addis Ababa, July 14 (WIC) – African leaders are arriving in Addis Ababa to attend the 19th Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union scheduled for 15 to 16 July, 2012.

Presidents of Sudan, South Sudan, Namibia, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Chad and Mauritania have arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday.

The presidents were accorded with warm reception by Ethiopian government and AU officials up on their arrival at Bole International Airport.

Leaders and delegates of international, continental as well as regional organizations are expected to arrive for the Summit.

Under the theme “Boosting Intra-Africa Trade”, the deliberations of the 19th AU Summit began on July 9 with a two-day meeting of the AU Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC).

Key items on the agenda of the Summit will be the election of the Chairperson of the AU Commission, the Deputy Chairperson and Commissioners which was pended during the previous January Summit. (ENA)
