Bahirdar finalizes preparations to successfully host NNPD

Bahirdar, December 5 (WIC) – Preparations have been finalized to successfully host the 7th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day (NNPD), according to Bahirdar Town Mayor Office.

Mayor of Bahirdar Town, Simachew Wondimagegn, told WIC today all preparations including beautifying the city and fulfilling infrastructural facilities were completed.

Moreover, necessary preparations that enable to alleviate if water and power interruption as well as security problems occur during the celebration have been completed, he added.

According to Simachew, more than 4,000 people will take part at the event. Cultural teams from Tigray, Afar, Benishangul Gumuz and Gambella State have already arrived at the city to attend the celebration.

According to Simachew, the town will benefit a lot from the celebration in promoting the culture, investment and tourism potentials of the regional state.

This year’s celebration of NNPD would be a good opportunity to realize the vision of the late PM Meles Zenawi, who devoted his whole life for the equality and freedom of his people, he said.

The 6th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day was marked colorfully in Mekelle town, Tigray State last Ethiopian fiscal year.
