Addis Ababa, 18 July 2014 (WIC) ¬– The attempt made to interlock the country’s struggle against terrorism is nothing but a prejudice that has little acceptance by the people and government of Ethiopia, Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn said.
Briefing local and foreign journalists today the premier reiterated that the country will strengthen the efforts it has exerted not only in dismantling terrorists’ network, diffusing their ideology but also taking legal actions against them.
The Government’s strive against terrorism, by no means, should interlace with the upcoming election, the premier emphasized, adding that the anti-terrorism struggle has emanated from the constitutional responsibility of the government.
According to Prime Minister Hailemarian, the government has shouldered the responsibility of ensuring lasting peace, guarantee security to the people and maintain law and order in the country.
The arrest of Andargachew Tsige is just part of the efforts made by the government to crackdown the network of terrorists, which thwarted the irresponsible states participating in terrorist activities to endanger Ethiopia’s development and unity.
The premier also disclosed the effort made by the government to take apart the terrorists’ network stretched from Eritrea to Sudan and Somalia aiming to jeopardize Ethiopia’s development efforts.
“Those who have been engaged in such terrorist activities under alleged reason of opposition political party leaders or journalists could, by no means, escape from facing legal charges to their criminal activities,” PM Hailemariam added.
Ethiopia will strengthen its labors to detach terrorists’ networks, he said, adding that the country has effectively carrying out its role of Peace Keeping Mission successfully in annihilating Al-Shaba from Somalia.
In the efforts to bring an enduring peace and stability in Somalia, the Ethiopian Peace Keeping Force has been patrolling 60 per cent of the country, WIC learnt.
