SEPDM urges public to intensify support for development

Addis Ababa, 10 October 2014 (WIC) – The South Ethiopia Peoples’ Democratic Movement (SEPDM), one of the member parties of the ruling EPRDF, has urged the public to intensify efforts for the continuity of the ongoing developments in the region.

Speaking at the 22nd founding anniversary of SEPDM on Thursday in Hawassa town, Chair of the party, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, said everyone should contribute to the continuation of the ‘luminous’ achievements registered so far.

He said the tyranny and atrocities perpetrated by the former regimes led to the foundation of the party. The party has addressed the pressing concerns of peoples in the region, he added.

SEPDM has put directions to enhance the renaissance of the state after identifying challenges posing threat against the system, Hailemariam said.

State Chief, Desse Dalke, for his part said the foundation of SEPDM 22 years ago created a good opportunity to enhance development, ensure good governance and consolidate democracy in the region.

The party is mobilizing the public towards development, he added.
