PM Hailemariam elected as President of FFD3 Conference

Addis Ababa, 13 July 2015 (WIC) – FDRE Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has been elected as President of the Third Financing for Development Conference.

The Conference kicked off this morning with several Heads of State and Governments, Ministers, International organizations and NGOs in attendance in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa.

FDRE Minister of Finance and Economic Development Sufian Ahmed was also elected as Deputy President of the conference, while Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom was elected as Chirman of the main committee for the conference.

Close to 5000 participants are present and ready to engage in negotiations, discussions, panels and round table debates to help forge an agreement and discuss innovative financing instruments towards mobilizing resources for development for Africa and for people around the world.

18,000 people were involved in preparations for the conference and side events, according to Dr. Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. (FBC)
